Posted Tuesday 15 January 2019

The line-ups are stacking up over here at 338 with artist after artist being confirmed for our venue. In saying this, it is with great pleasure that we welcome the likes of Sven Väth and his Cocoon imprint back for another fun fuelled epidemic under our glass roofed terrace in Greenwich, London.

If you remember correctly the last time we had Cocoon with us was 2017... Oh, how the time flies. That event was absolutely mesmerising and this one is setting up to be even better. Joining Sven on the bill is none other than female boss Dana Ruh + Gaiser performing a undeniable live set. Lastly we have our trusted resident Andrew Kay who is going to be bringing a true London sound to the event.

Sven Väth is quite simply unique. A legend in his own lifetime with a commitment and passion that has influenced the advance and evolution of electronic music. Clubs, record labels and careers have been launched. There are some people that are destined to emerge and change things. Change landscapes. Sven Väth is a risk taking visionary, an instigator, an innovator and very possibly invincible.

1981 and Frankfurt it started. Quickly the figurehead for a techno revolution in Germany that was to spread far and wide. Worldwide. Setting sail alone, this was 1981 and this was new.

The Omen Club and so many other adventures punctuated this period, getting the sound out there . Vinyl then, vinyl now. Parties that mattered and changed things. Parties that reinforced a vision and eventually gave birth to Cocoon.

Born and raised in Germany‘s small town Gera, Dana Ruh soon found her way to the capital city of Berlin and since then she has been on a constantly evolving musical journey.

In the early years her sound was rooted in techno and landed most often on her label, Brouqade, which has become a go to outlet for contemporary club sounds.

Producing a deeper, more smoky house and techno, Dana has released on seminal label Ostgut Ton alongside André Galuzzi and has become one of the family members at Jus Ed’s lauded New Jersey label Underground Quality where she released her stunning debut album 'Naturally'.

When she isn’t busy in the studio crafting textured tracks, Dana is a fine DJ who holds down resident duties at top Berlin space Club Der Visionare. It is there that she lays down seductive tracks from the worlds of house and techno as well as gems in between. So she does when on tour around world, hitting up clubs and festivals everywhere from the UK to the USA, Romania to Russia.

Dana Ruh manages to speak louder and more coherently than most, and for that reason she deserves all the love she gets.

After a lifetime of making music, Jon Gaiser is always leading from the front of his own world. With his signature sound, he has created a shift in the direction of underground electronic music, starting a movement of atmospheric bass-line driven techno that is entirely unique and unmistakable.

It has come almost exclusively on Richie Hawtin’s Minus, and with that label he has been an influential part of the modern day techno landscape, both on stage and in the studio. From pioneering Minus projects like Contakt and CNTRL, to being a key resident of ENTER via his always inventive live sets and mind bending visual accompaniments, Gaiser has always harnessed the power of electronic music and nurtured its most evocative and cinematic possibilities.

Coming up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Gaiser’s musical life ranged from the formal, where he studied percussion with the symphony, to the informal, where he played drums in punk rock bands. Later experiencing the golden years of Detroit, it was the infinite possibilities and futuristic darkness of techno that really captured him, and since his early teens he has been on an endless mission to create sounds that have never been heard before.
